BACK PAIN? TRY CHIROPRACTIC FIRST, HERE’S WHY!
We have had many patients who have contemplates back surgery vs chiropractic care. A surgeon primary concern is exactly what is his or her name title; surgery. I have had friends and patiens whom have had both Back Surgery and other who used chiropractic treatment; both regained most of their activities and movedon with their lives. Which was the better choice?
That’s a key question.
As recent of April 2017, published in JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) found benefits associated with Spinal Manipulative Therapy with clinical benefit for acute low back pain. That is not to say, that Chiropractors are 100% against back surgery as surgery may be considered if for severe lower back pain that does not get better after a 6 to12-week course of nonsurgical treatments. It is almost always the patient’s decision to have back surgery, and only in rare situations is immediate surgery performed for low back pain.
Chiropractic sessions involves a thorough x-ray and analysis of your particular problem. Chiropractic treatment will consist of multiple visits where our doctors will use manipulative spinal adjustments, massage, heat therapy, acupunture therapy and daily exercise recommendations. Back pain is a serious issue and the chiropractor you choose can make the difference as to how you feel and how long it takes you to recover. Most patients who visit my office with severe back pain and our looking for alternative to surgery, start feeling better and seeing results within a few weeks.
Surgery requires weeks (sometimes months) of recovery time. Some surgeries are considerably more invasive than others, and include lengthier healing periods, more or less significant pain during recovery, and varying inpatient hospital stays. With modern surgical approaches and an experienced surgeon, many types of spine surgery can now be done on an outpatient basis with a shorter recovery period.
When You See A Chiropractor
If you have never seen a chiropractor before, you will find your initial visit covers a lot of ground with an initial spinal adjustment to evaluate spinal health, a complete review of medical history, and a discussion of daily activities.
Dr. Tannenbaums goal is to seek relief and return to normal activities without medications or surgery. In a society where medications seem to be swirling out of control for many, the chiropractor’s approach has a definite appeal. For many avoiding surgery also has a major appeal.
After the first visit to the chiropractor, a treatment program can be shaped. That program often has many prongs as the chiropractor sometimes has to help solve several problems at once. Along with the immediate back pain, questions of stress and tension, extra weight, and overloaded work schedules may all come up for discussion too.
New healthy lower calorie diets, exercises for strength and relaxation, and revisions of work schedules may all come into play.
Making sense of all of this and providing ongoing dialogue and feedback is a natural for the chiropractor. If that sounds like a very workable plan to you, make an appointment today at Dr. Tannanebuam Beverly Hills, Office.
